Today I visited Namsan-ri for a meeting with the Project Jeju team.
We toured the abandoned school building that may one day host a festival — and I was quietly taken by it.
Records show Sinsan Elementary’s Namsan branch closed in 1995, then sat unused until 2012–2016, when an alternative education space rented it for ₩12,230,000 a year.
There is a faint horror-film mood to the place… and yet I liked it.
For a moment I imagined renting it myself and doing something there — though the structure looks too unsafe now.
Still, if the chance ever comes, I’d love to return with a model whose spirit fits the building
and photograph someone’s sorrow lit by warm, generous daylight.
